Founded in 1993, the Chinese Friendship Association of Portland (CFAP) is a non-profit,
community-based organization committed to promoting cultural understanding, supporting
Chinese immigrants and building a more inclusive society. Our mission is to foster cross-
cultural awareness, provide educational and civic opportunities, and enhance community
engagement throughout Oregon and Vancouver, Washington through active community service.
From hosting large-scale cultural celebrations such as the Lunar New Year at Keller Auditorium
to leading impactful fundraising campaigns during the COVID-19 crisis, CFAP is proud of its
role as a cultural bridge and a champion of civic responsibility.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the strategic and operational leader of CFAP. The
ED is responsible for implementing the organization’s mission and vision, overseeing programs
and events, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring the financial health and sustainable
growth of the organization. This leader will represent CFAP publicly, advocate for the needs of
Chinese American communities and inspire trust and engagement from diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with CFAP’s mission
- Solicit grant opportunities that would meet our strategic initiatives.
- Oversee cultural, educational, civic, and grant programs that promote cultural understanding and community engagement.
- Identify, design, and lead revenue generating activities.
- Ensure effective fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, and financial management.
- Act as the primary spokesperson for CFAP with media, government agencies, partners, and the public.
- Cultivate partnerships with local, regional, and national organizations and stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and support for youth civic leadership training and community assistance programs.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and non-profit governance standards in addition to all internal policies and procedures.
- Supervise and support staff, volunteers, and committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of senior leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit or community organization.
- Proven experience in securing and managing grant programs. Successful experiences in fundraising and community engagement.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness.
- Knowledge of Chinese culture, customs, and immigrant history.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Served in a nonprofit.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin or Cantonese.
- Experience working with immigrant or culturally specific communities.
- Successful track record in grant writing and nonprofit fundraising.
- Experience planning and executing large-scale public events.
- Familiarity with media outreach and public relations campaigns.
Compensation:
Annual base salary of $50,000 to $60,000, plus bonus incentives with benefits package included.

作为CFAP的主要发言人,对接媒体、政府、合作伙伴及公众

建立并维护本地、区域及全国性合作关系

监督青年公民领导力培训及社区援助项目

确保遵守法律法规、非营利机构治理规范及内部规章制度

管理并支持工作人员、志愿者及委员会的运作
【最低要求】

拥有非营利管理、公共行政、商业、文化研究或相关领域的学士学位或更高学历
-
至少3年高级管理经验,最好有非营利或社区组织背景
-
拥有争取资助、管理拨款项目的经验,善于筹款和社区动员
-
具备优秀的人际沟通、书面表达与口头沟通能力
-
对多元共融原则有坚定承诺

熟悉中华文化、习俗及移民历史
