HK Café、Excellent Cuisine、Feast Utopia、Little Beijing、Paint Your Jewelry、Senior Advocate Services,以及俄勒冈州立大学推广部园艺大师项目(OSU Extension Master Gardener Program)等。
Lake Oswego
Mid-Autumn Asian Marketplace Connects Communities Through Culture, Wellness, and Tobacco Prevention
CFAP and Lan Su Chinese Garden Welcome Visitors from Across the United States and Canada
The Chinese Friendship Association of Portland (CFAP), in partnership with Lan Su Chinese Garden, hosted the Mid-Autumn Asian Marketplace on September 25–27, 2026. The three-day event brought together Asian cuisine, traditional crafts, Chinese wellness experiences, and community resources, attracting local residents and visitors from across the United States and Canada.
Set within Lan Su’s classical Chinese garden, the marketplace offered an inviting setting for cultural learning and community health outreach. Visitors explored food and craft booths, participated in hands-on activities, and learned about Mid-Autumn traditions while connecting with local businesses, practitioners, and community organizations.
Traditional Chinese medicine and wellness activities were a highlight. Participating organizations included the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), TCM Clinic at Lake Oswego, Haosheng Acupuncture, Pearl Acupuncture & Wellness Center, and other local wellness providers. Practitioners, along with NUNM faculty and students, offered consultations, acupuncture, Tui Na experiences, and wellness demonstrations. These activities introduced visitors to traditional Chinese approaches to well-being and created opportunities to discuss stress management and healthy lifestyles.
CFAP integrated commercial tobacco prevention education into the marketplace through culturally tailored, in-language materials and its bilingual Educational Quiz & Survey(科普小测试和问卷). The interactive activity encouraged one-on-one conversations about tobacco harms, prevention, and cessation resources. Bringing health education into a cultural celebration helped CFAP engage visitors who might not otherwise attend a tobacco prevention program.
The event also strengthened relationships with traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and educational institutions. These connections support continued dialogue about culturally responsive cessation education and the evidence for complementary approaches to cessation support. Across the marketplace and CFAP’s other tobacco prevention outreach events during the reporting period, the organization engaged more than 600 people and collected nearly 200 quiz and survey responses.
Additional participating businesses and community partners included HK Café, Excellent Cuisine, Feast Utopia, Little Beijing, Paint Your Jewelry, Senior Advocate Services, and the OSU Extension Master Gardener Program. Their contributions expanded the event’s offerings to include food, crafts, health information, gardening education, and practical community resources.
The marketplace’s success reflected extensive planning and coordination. CFAP and Lan Su staff collaborated on program development, partner recruitment, vendor and practitioner outreach, scheduling, site logistics, promotion, and on-site operations. Participating organizations, businesses, and volunteers contributed the expertise and support needed to bring these activities together.
On September 27, CFAP also supported the 21st Portland Chinese Golf Open at RedTail Golf Course and participated in the Lake Oswego Cultural Exchange event, where tobacco prevention education was included in its outreach. Coordinating activities at three locations required close teamwork among staff, community partners, and volunteers.
The Mid-Autumn Asian Marketplace demonstrated how cultural programming can expand access to health education, strengthen partnerships, and create meaningful community connections. CFAP thanks Lan Su Chinese Garden and all participating practitioners, organizations, businesses, and volunteers for making this celebration and outreach effort possible.
